Nina + Jet are the mother and daughter powerhouse behind the clothing brand Eponine London. Founded by Jet Shenkman in 2011, Eponine prides itself on creating couture collections of seasonal bespoke ready-to-wear pieces where timeless silhouettes collide fantastically with colour and texture. With inspiration being drawn from the styles of the 50s and 60s, and the talented Petar Petov as head designer, it is no surprise that these pieces are a firm favourite of Kate Middletons.
Making a stand for individuality and the refusal to follow trends, Eponine creates timeless pieces with an emphasis on quality and craftsmanship. We don't know about you, but if it's got Kate's Royal seal of approval then you know you this brand is going on your wardrobe want list.
What do you love most about your job?
J: There’s not really just one thing I love most about my job, it’s manifold: the creative outlet, the teamwork, the laughter in the studio, the client contact and the joy of a happy client.
N: It’s been pretty special building a business with my Mum and, more recently, my little brother. I know I’ll always cherish these years when I look back on them!
Where's your favourite hangout?
J: My house in the country surrounded by my whole family.
N: Knock2Bag comedy night at the Moth Club in Hackney.
What's top of your playlist right now?
J: Fly Me to the Moon by Bobby Womack.
N: So many! At Eponine we have a Spotify account where we launch playlists every few weeks, so I’m ever listening to music to use. Some of our playlists are made by us and some are by guests, head to Eponine London if you fancy dipping in.
What's your most loved piece in your wardrobe?
J: A black sleeveless down puffer jacket I bought in Japan 25 years ago!
N: I have an Eponine Hmong dress that I wear again and again yet somehow always feel like it’s the first time!
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
J: Too scared to fess up...
N: More than is acceptable. Although many of them are hand-me-downs from Mum!
What do your Rogues say about you?
J: Classic with a contemporary twist.
N: That I cannot resist a pompom!
